Purpose: The Events Volunteer will assist on the event day for set-up, guest assistance and registration or clean up. Events Volunteers can assist at The Second Step fundraising events, such as our Celebrating Success Gala, Step Up to the Plate; and other community events such as our Day of Beauty or our annual Backpack BBQ.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Checking guests in and out of events using Greater Giving and other programs
  • Setting up tents, tables, displays, or booths
  • Organizing materials, folding and preparing programs
  • Moving chairs, tables, or equipment

Time Commitment: Varies by month depending on scheduling of events
Hours vary, and may include daytime, evening or weekend hours


  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Friendly and warm personality
  • Requires some walking, bending and carrying heavy items, depending on duties assigned
  • Willingness to coordinate with and work within small groups
  • Possess good verbal and communication skills
  • Deep desire to work toward social justice for survivors and their families

Support Provided: Events Volunteers will typically work and collaborate with all staff at TSS events. The Development team and the Volunteer & Training Coordinator will all be available for questions and support, before, during and after TSS events.
