Light as a Shadow is an interactive light exhibit and workshop that allows visitors to explore how white light is composed of three primary colors through play, experimentation, and making.

Visitors begin by using Arts & Scraps materials to create a character, creature or whatever creative expression they would like. They then use their creation or their hands/bodies to create shadows on the projection wall. Visitors have the option to manipulate and modify their scrap creations and themselves to create unique shadows and (if they’d like) stories.

Come join Arts & Scraps build, construct, and project onto the Detroit Institute of Arts! We will be creating with children and families of all ages from 7pm-12am on Friday and Saturday, September 22-23. Update: Parking will not be supplied by Arts & Scraps or DLECTRICITY. We suggest parking along the QLine route and taking the QLine to the Ferry Station, then walking to the DIA where we will be located!
