ORGANIZATION: Horse Feathers Equine Center

We are looking for at least two volunteer coordinators to switch days, etc to help with supervision of the volunteers on Saturday mornings. Someone to help get them signed in, teaching the logistics of the facility, making sure that chores are completed. Someone to help develop a new volunteer base for us as many of ours have grown up or moved away.

About Horse Feathers Equine Center

Location:

6320 N HIGHWAY 74C, GUTHRIE, OK 73044, US

Mission Statement

501(c)(3) non profit dedicated and committed to providing services to horses in need of healthcare, nutrition, and rehabilitation. We will assist abused, neglected and slaughter-bound horses in need on a discretionary basis by rehabilitating, training, and placing them in a forever home. The ultimate goal is to find a forever, lifelong home that is a perfect fit for each horse and their adoptive family. We strive to prevent future cruelty towards horses by educating the community on responsible equine husbandry through hands on instruction, clinics, and classes. Those horses not adoptable into a loving forever home due to illness, age, or other circumstances will remain at the facility to live their lives out in a humane fashion. Those deemed able to participate, will be used to assist with EAGALA, Equine Assisted Therapy, helping those who come for issues such as PTSD, Trauma, Developmental Disorders, Drug & Alcohol issues, and any other Mental Health disorder.

Description

Horse Feathers Equine Center has been in operation since 2006 here in Oklahoma. Previously we were known as Horse Feathers Equine Rescue. Through restructuring we have chosen to focus on those horses that are in need of our specialized care whether it be rehab through medical, physical or spiritual or starting with ground basics and going on to further training. Those horses who are rehabbed through the program go on to be adopted out through our Adoption Program. Those who aren't will live here in Sanctuary. Our goal is to help those horses who would not be given a chance due to the time and assistance needed to rehab as far as possible giving them a second chance at a life.
