ORGANIZATION: Tutoring Plus of Cambridge

Tutoring Plus is seeking volunteer tutor/mentors for our Alewife location, Tutoring Plus works with Cambridge students in grades 4-12. Volunteers meet with students on weeknights from 6:00- 7:00 pm. Each volunteer is matched one-on-one with a student based on academic strengths and needs, as well as personality and interests.

We are looking for volunteers to provide a commitment of at least one hour a week for one semester. We have seven sites around Cambridge with the majority being close to Central, Kendall and Alewife stations.

The mission of Tutoring Plus of Cambridge is to support and encourage the academic, personal, and social growth of youth in Cambridge with the help of volunteers and community partners.

To apply, please complete our volunteer application which can be found at www.tutoringplus.org/volunteer. Once your application is received, you will be invited in for a brief informational interview and to complete necessary paperwork.

Our spring semester programs open during the week of January 3rd.We will provide a new volunteer training and orientation on Thursday, January 25th.

Description

For over 55 years, Tutoring Plus has continued to provide academic support to Cambridge students. By providing a structured environment for volunteers and a highly personalized approach to working with students, Tutoring Plus currently supports over 210 students and 170 tutors and serves as a critical resource for our students and families.

All of our programs are provided free of charge to support our effort to close the opportunity gap within our neighborhood.
