Mission Statement

iPraxis is a nonprofit organization where we encourage students in Philadelphia’s public and charter schools to embrace and pursue STEM learning opportunities. Using inquiry and project-based learning activities like science fairs, in-class presentations, workshops, field trips, and career fairs, students gain insight into how things work in the real world and discover new possibilities for their future.

Description

Volunteers can get involved in the following ways and more: Science Fair Project Mentor: volunteers meet with a small group of students once a week for a 9-12 week period to guide the planning and implementation of a science fair project. After-school club mentor: volunteers collaborate with teachers to support students in various after- school programs. Current programs include: the Science Synergy competition (modeled after the Science Olympiad), reverse engineering, computer programming, and more! Science Fair judge: volunteers review student's projects and interview them during the science fair. Presenters: volunteers share information and hands on activities to enhance the curriculum and/or share about careers in different STEM fields.
