ORGANIZATION: Gentiva Hospice South

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 19 people are interested

Our hospice program, "Vets Caring for Vets," needs volunteers who are willing to share some of their time and talents to help patients and their families who are dealing with end-of-life issues.

Volunteers work directly with patients and families to provide services such as:

  • companionship
  • emotional support
  • socialization
  • respite for caregivers
  • music therapy
Trained hospice volunteers who also are veterans will have the unique ability to support other veterans who are terminally ill. Our hospice program will provide education on the hospice philosophy and our care model. Our training will also help veterans understand their role as hospice volunteers. Join our team today!

Mission Statement

To improve quality of life for those we serve through the delivery of clinical excellence, extraordinary service and compassionate care, while being recognized as the leader in home health and hospice services.

Description

As a leading hospice provider in the San Antonio area, we focus on clinical excellence in managing pain and symptoms so patients may experience a calm and peaceful quality of life in their final days.

Hospice focuses on palliative measures and comfort care when an individual is at a terminal stage of a life-limiting diagnosis. One of our goals are to:

*Affirm life and dignity while neither hastening nor postponing death.

*Support patients and their families as they discover meaningful ways to say good bye.

*Identify and educate a supportive community that will be sensitive to the needs of the patient and his or her loved ones.

*Offer palliative care and support to all terminally ill patients and their families without regard for diagnosis, race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, veteran's status, disability, sexual orientation, place of residence or ability to pay.

*Honor and respect the core values and wishes of the patients and families we serve.
