The nurse prepares patients to be seen by a physician/provider. Chief duties include rooming patients, documenting chief complaint, assessing vital signs, cleaning rooms, and assisting providers as needed. Three or four nurses staff each clinic and play an essential role in keeping it moving.
The Free Clinic provides all necessary medical supplies; however, most nurses prefer to bring their own stethoscopes. Please remember to wear professional clothing or scrubs, and closed‐toe shoes.
SCHEDULE Mon/Wed/Fri, 9:00am‐12:00pm or Tues/Thurs 6:15 pm - 9:30 pm Please note: Clinics may occasionally run longer than expected due to patient volume.
TRAINING PROVIDED Trained by shadowing current nurses before working solo. Written Guidelines for job tasks are provided (see pg.2)
REQUESTED COMMITMENT One regular shift per month - Twelve month commitment. Volunteers may schedule as available to fill in scheduling gaps up to one week in advance.
QUALIFICATIONS Licensed RN, LPN, EMT, CNA, MA‐C, MA‐P (All MA’s must be registered with the State of Washington Dept of Health).
