Chrysalis

Chrysalis is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a pathway to self-sufficiency for homeless and low-income individuals by providing the resources and support needed to find and retain employment. The men and women who turn to Chrysalis often have multiple barriers to finding employment including homelessness, limited education, criminal records, and substance abuse issues. Since 1984, we have assisted over 51,000 people on the path to self-sufficiency at four centers throughout SoCal where poverty and homelessness are most pervasive: Downtown Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Anaheim, and Pacoima in the San Fernando Valley.

Chrysalis volunteers facilitate job preparation classes and help individuals facing significant barriers to employment build resumes and practice their interview skills. Not only do volunteers play an integral role in empowering clients to build crucial job search skills, they instill the self-esteem needed to succeed in the interview and beyond. We are currently seeking volunteers (bilingual Spanish-speakers, especially) to help provide resume and practice interview assistance.

All Chrysalis volunteers will be required to attend an informational session, receive training and ongoing evaluation, agree to confidentiality terms, and commit to an ongoing schedule. Volunteers must be able commit to a minimum of 2 hours per month during our office hours: Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm.

If you are interested in volunteering please fill out the Volunteer Application From on http://www.changelives.org/volunteer. In the "Cover Letter" box on the following page, please provide a thoughtful statement of interest (approximately 250 words) describing why you want to volunteer with Chrysalis. Applications without a resume and statement of interest will not be considered.
