Mississippi National River and Recreation Area

Join a National Park Service ranger and several groups of 5th graders on the prairie! We will be connecting the benefits of prairie habitat in the local watershed to the quality of water in the Mississippi River.

We'll conduct 5 or 6 rotations of a 20 minute lesson. The lesson includes an educational component and a game. Volunteers are needed to help the ranger set up and take down the activity between groups and to assist during the program. No prior experience is necessary, but the volunteer must be comfortable working with children, being outside, and standing and/or walking moderate distances for a few hours at a time. Onsite training to orient the volunteer to the activity will be provided by the park ranger.

We are outside all day, rain or shine. Lunch (usually from Subway) is provided.
We need volunteers on these days: September 19, 21, 26, 28
