Save the Children believes every child deserves a future. In the U.S. and around the world, we give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. We do whatever it takes for children - every day and in times of crisis - transforming their lives and the future we share.

Save the Children's Lexington Kentucky headquarters manages the Child Sponsorship program for children served in the United States. Child Sponsorship helps provide children with the necessities for a healthy and successful start to their life - nutrition, early childhood and adolescent development, education and school health. Our programs reach children’s parents, caregivers and community members. Together with more than 20,000 sponsors, we help save children’s lives, protect them from exploitation and provide them with hope for the future.

We are seeking 2 volunteers to support our Sponsorship Operations team for 10 or more hours a week for 20 weeks or longer. The volunteer positions can also serve as an internship opportunity. The volunteer will receive onboarding for all assignments, access to career development and skills trainings, and an opportunity to network within a large, well-known non-profit serving children in 120 countries around the world. Volunteers are also invited to all staff engagement events and at least one local program visit (if available).

Key responsibilities include: 1. Reviewing, scanning, saving, tracking, and packaging sponsor/child correspondence; 2. Scanning and e-filing documentation; 3. Preparing community kits; 4. Other projects based on the volunteer's skills and interests

Volunteers must meet the following basic requirements: 1. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and general operation of computers. 2. Commitment to volunteering consistently for 10 or more hours per week over a 20-week period of time. 3. Able to pass a background check, and willingness to agree to our child safeguarding policy. 4. Capable of learning a task and completing it independently and accurately with minimal supervision. 5. Professional office behavior and respectful of diverse backgrounds, situations, and preferences.

To apply, please email your resume to Amanda Kohn (akohn@savechildren.org).

Save the Children is committed to conducting our programs and operations in a manner that keeps children safe and protects them from harm. We insist on 100% accountability for safeguarding the children we are privileged enough to serve. All Save the Children representatives-including employees, board members, partners and volunteers-are expected to conduct themselves according to this commitment. We have clear procedures to prevent, report and respond to any risks to children.
