Core Academy, Powered by the Rogers Foundation, provides a long-term comprehensive support model to empower and uplift our community's under-resourced youth, emphasizing character education, academic engagement, community service, cultural enrichment, social services, and mentorship. We are looking for committed, positive role models in our community to mentor our middle school and high school scholars. Our goal is to have an individual mentor for every scholar in our program.
Becoming a mentor allows you to have a significant impact on the life of an individual student. Our scholars need role models who will exemplify positive character traits, such as accountability, responsibility, respect, and ownership. We all need people in our lives who show us they care about our well-being and success and who invest in us individually. As a mentor, you could be that person for one of our amazing scholars!
A mentor commits to meeting with an individual student at least four hours a month for a minimum of two years to spend time doing one-on-one outings and activities, working with the scholar on personal and professional development along with academic accountability.
All of our mentors are expected to set an example for our scholars in the areas of honesty, integrity, respect, responsibility, and developing the skills to make good choices.
All mentors must fill out an application and go through an interview with our Volunteer and Mentor Program Coordinator to ensure that he/she is a good fit for the mentorship program and to arrange a good scholar/mentor match.
All Individual Mentors must pass a full FBI background check.
