ORGANIZATION: Literacy Volunteers of Central CT

Parenting for Academic Success is a program provided to mothers of New Britain who want to improve their English speaking skills through Math, Science, and literacy activities to help their child succeed in school. This is a free program that also provides free child care to pre-k kids. This is a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of both the mother and child!

We need one more volunteer to accompany another experienced volunteer to help watch and play with the children of the mothers in the program. There are toys and puzzles, kids can color and there are books to read to them. Parents are on site if needed. Volunteers do not change diapers. The volunteer's job is to keep the child engaged while mom learns in their 90 minute class. Ages of the children typically range from 1-4 years old.
