Give an Hour(tm) is a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) with a mission to develop national networks of volunteers capable of responding to both acute and chronic conditions that arise within our society. By harnessing the skill and expertise of volunteer professionals, we are able to increase the likelihood that those in need receive the support and care they deserve.
As our nation faces the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, there is a critical need to provide help and hope to those who are suffering in Texas and the surrounding states.
Since 2005 Give an Hour has focused on providing free mental health care to active duty, National Guard and Reserve service members, veterans, and their families. In 2016, we expanded our efforts to address the mental health needs of other populations.
What does being a Give an Hour Provider mean?
Volunteer mental health professionals in Give an Hour’s network have simply opted to sign up on our website as ready and available to assist someone when the need arises such as the current need with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.Providers can choose to offer in person, telephone or tele-health support to many different populations.
Not all mental health professionals will have a client all year. Many different types of providers sign up to work with GAH. Providers commit to set aside one session per week for one year for a free client in the populations of their choice, starting with the military population.
In addition to direct counseling, Give an Hour’s network of volunteer professionals are working to reduce the stigma associated with mental health treatment. The commitment is flexible and Give an Hour works with you to ensure you are receiving the information, training and tools to be successful!

WE ARE ACTIVELY SEEKING LICENSED PROVIDERS TO SUPPORT DISASTER EFFORTS IN HOUSTON AND SURROUNDING AREAS. If you are a licensed mental health professional carrying malpractice insurance, visit our registration page for additional information on how you can serve as a provider in the Give an Hour network. Opportunities are available for non-licensed volunteers as well!
