We're looking for an amazing volunteer to help a visually impaired, senior female near the AT&T Ballpark. Help her for a couple hours a week (or bi-weekly) with de-cluttering and organizing, researching for information, reading mail, or running an errand for her. We also have other opportunities in the North Beach area, if you're interested. So please feel free to contact us; we'd love to hear from you! Providing undivided attention to a senior can boost their spirit and help them to overcome obstacles that may otherwise lead them into a senior home. Spend a little time with an elder and you will make a big difference!
95% of us want to grow old in the comfort of our own home. NEXT's goal is to help the elderly in Northeast SF does just that! We also work to increase the member's well-being by reducing social isolation and loneliness by hosting workshops, cultural events and outings. Some of our members have lived in their homes/apartments for 40 years. Volunteers help by: Providing transportation to medical appointments or offering a lift to our social events. Taking someone to the grocery store, and if needed, help them carry their groceries up to their apartment. Help with technology. Lead a class or speak about something interesting to a group. Even just provide companionship.
