Description
The New York Shakespeare Exchange (NYSX) Board of Directors consists of a group of professionals who are just as passionate about the conversations that stem from the intersections of art, culture and Shakespeare’s works as they are about helping grow a small non-profit organization through innovative marketing. Over our nine years of programming, we have seen a great deal of artistic success. We have staged eight main stage productions, four workshops, countless pub crawls, developed The Sonnet Project in New York City, the United States and internationally, and have taught students at every level on the power of Shakespeare’s works.
We are poised to transform our organization from a part-time, artist-driven company into a full-time, fully-staffed business that can support the artistic growth we are ready for. To do that, we need a group of people who are as passionate about our mission as we are.
Specifically, we are looking for individuals with experience and expertise in nonprofit revenue generation (fundraising, partnership/sponsorship development, grant writing, overall development), education, arts programming, and/or community development.

Mission Statement
New York Shakespeare Exchange bridges cultural divides, starts conversations, promotes education, and brings communities together through diverse, classically-based programming that re-imagines how Shakespearean theater and poetry can impact our modern world. Brimming with an unwavering sense of adventure, our work honors the legacy of the Bard while intersecting his poetry with today’s ever-changing social, political, and technological landscapes. From star-crossed lovers wooing across a crowded bar, to sonnets interpreted as independent film, to live productions that highlight Shakespeare’s verse in a contemporary context, our projects challenge expectations and lead us forward to continued innovation.
Description
Our programming currently lives in multiple channels: Live Productions; The Sonnet Project; ShakesBEER, NYC's Original Shakespearean Pub Crawl; Freestyle Labs; and Educational Initiatives. We are building out a larger umbrella project called INTERSECTIONS that will deliver all of this programming to communities across the US.
We are a small but rapidly growing organization. In only 9 years we have carved out a strong niche in the NYC theater scene and across the globe. Our projects and productions are well-reviewed and our audience is passionate and loyal.
