Do you know how to tune a guitar or a ukulele? We are looking for you on October 28 or for helping out thereafter! Several volunteer "Tuning Angels" are needed to help prepare ukuleles for students to learn to play in their regular elementary classrooms. This is a fun work day where you will meet fellow players doing a good deed for kids. You will use electronic tuners so you don't have to rely on your "ear."
We'll bring along some power winders, electronic tuners and hand string winders, extra strings, too and show you our step by step tuning routing. By the time an hour has passed you will have made a difference for about 60 students.
This opportunity has two shifts on Saturday, October 28, from 8-11 am or 12-3 pm. We are grateful for any time you can give, even just an hour here or there will make a difference for a hundred children!

Mission Statement
Guitars & Ukes in the Classroom trains, equips and inspires K-12 educators and staff to teach all subjects through the power of song. GITC's professional development courses and classroom residencies, funded by donors, support highly-engaged student learning and restore music to its rightful place in childhood and society.
Description
Our work prepares educators to lead music, confidently employing it as a dynamic tool for reaching all learners, teaching all subjects, and building character, creativity and community.
GITC programs are free. They include "easy" group guitar, singing, song-leading and collaborative songwriting instruction on an ongoing basis through six sequential course levels, in accordance with educational content standards. GITC's sponsors from the music products industry make it possible for the teachers to borrow guitars and recieve their musical accessories, resource materials, and pedagogical support at no charge.
GITC takes a grassroots approach to building strong local musical programs that unite teachers, decision makers, artists, families, business people, associations, foundations, and generous individuals in a common endeavor- to revive and restore music to its rightful place in our lives, schools and culture.
