Mission Statement

The mission of Project Playground is to come together as a community to raise funds and build a new park where children of all abilities can come play in a safe and well rounded environment.

Description

The park is a valuable and integral place in our community and the Project Playground Committee wants to see another park go up in its place. This project began in the spring of 2016, when two Winters community moms took it upon themselves to see what it would take to rebuild the park. They started gathering community support and began to look into 501c3 status. A local non-profit supporting creative and artistic projects in Winters, the Winters Participation Gallery, came forward and generously offered to put Project Playground under their non-profit umbrella. (Winters Participation Gallery is very supportive of projects involving kids, arts and imagination.) Once the 501c3 status was set, a steering committee was formed and members volunteered for the variety of tasks that needed to be accomplished. Committees range from fundraising, to organization of materials, accountant and marketing, childcare and food service. Each committee has a chair and is overseen by the Project Playground leads.

Project Playground will also be partnering with the City of Winters during this project. The city is providing legal counsel, liability insurance and will be helping with demolition as well as day of building help.
