ORGANIZATION: Health Connected

  • 3 people are interested

Health Connected is a growing nonprofit organization that provides puberty and sexual health education to young people in the Bay Area and across California. Health Connected is seeking a volunteer Mandarin language translator to translate and/or edit our existing materials from English to Mandarin. Experience with biological and medical terminology in Mandarin is preferred. This is an unpaid position.

This is a great opportunity for someone interested in the health or education fields. Translation work can be conducted remotely; however, we prefer to have a volunteer based in the San Francisco Bay Area to conduct occasional in-person meetings to strategize and/or review translations. Candidate should exhibit advanced skills in reading, writing, and speaking Mandarin.

Please send a CV/resume and a sample of translation work to media@health-connected.org.

About Health Connected

Mission Statement

Health Connected's mission is to equip young people with information, skills, and support to make thoughtful choices about their relationships and sexual health throughout their lives.

Description

Health Connected is a Bay Area 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on creating a community-wide commitment to adolescent sexual health.

We accomplish this through the following programs:

Youth Services - in-school puberty and sexuality education for students ages 10-19

Parent Services - interactive workshops for parents of adolescents and pre-adolescents on parent-child communication surrounding sexuality, sexual health, and relationships

Training & Technical Assistance - training and technical assistance for education professionals

Local, state, and federal agencies do not provide earmarked funding for sexual health education, meaning schools aren’t necessarily providing adequate -- or any -- sex ed programming. Over the last 25 years, Health Connected’s in-school comprehensive sexuality education programs have filled this gap, serving over 500,000 youth in 125 school districts across California.

Sex ed starts here. Through our direct service programs for students and parents, technical assistance for education professionals, and curriculum development, we’re turning "the talk" into an ongoing conversation and building a modern model of sex education.
