Looking for a creative and engaging community volunteer service event ? October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month is a great time to inspire you, friends, and/or staff to do a Girls Love Mail Letter Writing Event. It's a unique, low-cost, and wide-reaching event perfect for anyone.

Girls Love Mail, the national charity featured on The NBC Nightly News, The Steve Harvey Show, People.com, and Today.com gives the gift of hand-written letters to women going through breast cancer treatment. Since August 2011, they’ve handed out over 100,000 letters - that’s 100,000 women helped by a kindness anyone can do. People across the country send in their hand-written notes to Girls Love Mail based in Sacramento, and then the organization gets them out through 160 hospital cancer centers across the country.

This October, founder Gina L. Mulligan is encouraging everyone to write a letter. writing events in person! And on October 2nd, Gina will alsoa Facebook LIVE event where everyone is invited to join. Gina presents an emotional and inspiring 20-minute talk about the charity and the lives they’ve touched, and then you can get going on writing their own letters.

In addition, Girls Love Mail is launching a gift book called DEAR FRIEND; Letters of Encouragement, Humor, and Love for Women with Breast Cancer designed to reach even more women. Published by San Francisco-based Chronicle Books, this beautiful collection of hand-written letters was gathered by Girls Love Mail to spread strength and encouragement. For groups of 50 or more, a local bookseller may be available to come onsite.
