ORGANIZATION: Free Clinic of Southwest Washington

SUMMARY:
Our volunteer dentists provide exams and treatments for adult urgent/ emergency care and routine and preventative care for children. Volunteer dentists provide the care they feel comfortable performing. Free Clinic provides basic supplies and equipment for screenings, x rays, sealants, fluoride varnish, anesthetic, fillings, and extractions. Volunteers are free to bring any of their own equipment if they wish. The Free Clinic does not provide endodontic, cleanings, periodontic, prosthodontic, or orthodontic care.

SCHEDULE Clinics are scheduled according to your availability. Call or email us to schedule.

TRAINING PROVIDED
The Dental Program Manager or Dental Van Coordinator will introduce you to our different clinics, explain the layout and operations of our mobile dental operatory, provide support, and help facilitate the clinics. Dentists may choose to work solo or with another dentist during their first clinic. Dental CE credits are available for volunteering. One credit is available per hour, and seven credits are available per year.

REQUESTED COMMITMENT
The commitment can be monthly, quarterly or yearly.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
All dentist volunteers are required to have: DMD, DDS ‐ State of Washington Licensure, active and in good standing. Dentists must provide their own liability insurance - free insurance is available to volunteers. (see http://www.freeclinics.org/volunteer/insurance)

Description

The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington is a free medical clinic offering basic medical care to low-income, uninsured patients through our Urgent Care Clinics, M-W-F 8:30am-12:00 and T/Th 5:30pm-9:30pm. Health Screening Clinics (blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol) are offered on Friday mornings. Immunization Clinics are provided on the first and third Wednesday evenings 5:30pm-7:30pm of every month. Our vision clinics are Monday evenings by wait list and by appointment only and dental services are offered at varied times by wait list and by appointment only through the mobile Free Clinic Dental Van.
