Every day volunteers and interns help make the Children’s Discovery Museum "the most wonderful place in the world".


Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers spend their time interacting and playing with our visitors, help keep the museum tidy, lead free programming and assist with education classes in and out of the museum!

Volunteer Pre-Registration
All volunteers must complete an orientation class and a background check (if over 18) before they join the fun. Orientation pre-registration is required by filling out our Volunteer Profile or emailing apitzer@normal.org.

Volunteer Orientation Dates:
Saturday, May 19, 10:00-11:00am
Saturday, May 26, 10:00-11:00am
Friday, June 1, 10:00-11:00am, 1:00-2:00pm and 3:30-4:30pm

Description

The mission of the CDM is to inspire the love of learning through the power of play. The vision is to build confidence and foster creativity in today's youth; enhance critical thinking, communication and collaboration in tomorrow's workforce; and inspire a more innovative approach for educating future generations. The mission and vision are accomplished by providing hands-on exhibits, classes and programs that actively engage the visitor in experiences that stimulate imagination, curiosity, and wonder.
