Get involved with the Freshest Cargo Mobile Farmers’ Market Truck on Tuesdays in Antioch, Pittsburg/Bay Point, and Pleasant Hill!
Freshest Cargo’s mission is to create long-term change in local food systems by increasing access to fresh, affordable, and local fruits and vegetables in underserved communities. We serve communities of all ages, ethnicities, and income levels with 100% California grown produce, sourced entirely from small farms within 200 miles of the Bay Area.
By partnering with local health clinics, businesses, city governments, churches, and community centers, we are able to deliver healthy, local food to the places people naturally gather, while honoring each community’s local culture.
We believe that everyone should have equal access to healthy foods, and that the health of our communities and the livelihood of our local farmers should go hand-in-hand.
In order to better serve the communities we work in, Freshest Cargo is seeking volunteers to assist with activities such as:
- Providing a positive and friendly presence at all Freshest Cargo route stops
- Process customer transactions and provide excellent customer service
- Providing information about our incentives for shoppers using SNAP (food stamps), and for those who have WIC or SSI
- Conducting customer surveys
- Assisting staff with other tasks as necessary
We are seeking outgoing, friendly, passionate volunteers who care about supporting local food systems and can provide excellent customer service.

Our programs empower families to make sustainable lifestyle changes by expanding their nutrition, cooking, and gardening skills, and by boosting their access to local, affordable produce.
Local farms benefit, too, as our programs make it possible for small farms to sell in communities that would otherwise lack access to their products, while helping farmers diversify their sales through guaranteed weekly orders.
This grassroots community empowerment has a ripple effect that supports small family farms, promotes sustainability and responsible stewardship in agriculture, breaks down systemic barriers, and strengthens the local economy - all while growing community interest in healthy eating.
