Construction Volunteers Needed for this Summer to help build these homes for our Family Partners in Scituate and Whitman.

Position Summary: The Site Supervisor oversees the construction of a South Shore Habitat for Humanity home in a manner consistent with the criteria established by Habitat for Humanity, International. He/she reports material needs and work progress to the Construction Manager on a weekly basis. He/she trains and supervises volunteer construction crews, coordinates skilled contractors, and works with the Family Partners on the work site.

• Three years of experience in building one and two-family homes

• Ability to read building blueprints.

• Experienced in training and coaching individuals or groups in construction tasks.

TASKS:

• Learn and maintain the standards set by South Shore Habitat for Humanity for building high quality, simple affordable homes
• Construct the house according to local building codes in a timely manner.
• Coordinate the work-day objectives with the Construction Manager, in advance.
• Coordinate the ordering of all materials, tools, layout and engineering as required for the workday, in advance, with the Construction Manager.
• Review the requirements and number of volunteers needed with the Construction Manager and the Volunteer Coordinator.
• Ensure compliance with the Saturday Workday Orientation procedures; communicate safety procedures.
• Coordinate the skills of the volunteers with the task at hand. Insure that all volunteers have appropriate tasks and are having a positive experience.
• Ensure that worksite is clean and safe at all times.

HOURS:

South Shore Habitat for Humanity works with Corporate Teams, Faith Organizations, and Individuals. Build Days are scheduled on a weekly/monthly basis. Typical work week is Tuesday - Saturday. Sunday builds do happen on occasion. The workday is 7:30a.m.-3:30 p.m. Commitment/schedule varies.
