Saturday Academy Excel Database Volunteer

Position Summary: Saturday Academy Excel volunteers will work with our Enrollment and Database Manager and other departments on advanced aspects of the organization’s Excel database projects. Gain valuable experience and practice with Excel in the for-profit and non-profit world. We would prefer someone with advanced Excel experience, particularly pivot tables, advanced formulas, and Excel programming.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • 2-3 hours a week
  • Manipulate data in Excel using pivot tables, formulas, and programming
  • Work closely with the Enrollment and Database manager and other departments as necessary
  • Intermittent clerical work

Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Detail orientated
  • Active listening
  • Willingness to learn

Description

The mission of Saturday Academy is to engage children through in-depth learning so they may become life-long learners. We provide hands-on classes and camps, afterschool programs, accelerated learning programs for talented and gifted students, and a high school apprenticeship program in science and engineering (ASE). Since it was founded in 1983, SA has served over 165,000 students and currently serves approximately 6,000 students each year. SA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization affiliated with the University of Portland (UP). Instructors need to be experts in their fields so that children see adults as guides to learning and careers.
