Your Role
The Marketing Intern will work with the Incubator Manager and Communications team to increase the visibility of the Propeller Incubator in the New Orleans entrepreneurial community through successful implementation of various marketing campaigns. Successful completion of this project will result in an increased number of co-working members joining the Incubator, increased amount of event rental requests, and improvement of reputation management. This is an unpaid internship.

Position Outcomes
Digital Marketing

  • Coordinate with the Incubator Manager and Communications team to revise and manage relevant, engaging posts on Propeller’s Instagram account.
  • Improve SEO through management of customer service on Propeller’s Yelp, Google Plus, and Google Business accounts. This includes writing timely and appropriate replies to ongoing client reviews and encouraging members and event rental clients to review Propeller.

Print Marketing

  • Work with Incubator Manager and Communications team to refresh the Incubator Member Manual.
  • Support the Communications team with design conceptualization and distribution of printed Incubator marketing materials. Create distribution plan for placement of the marketing materials at neighborhood organizations, coffee shops, and other locations frequented by potential members.

Incubator Team Support

  • Act as liaison between Incubator and Communications teams, communicating upcoming opportunities and relevant information affecting Propeller’s advertising campaigns, website content, and other marketing materials.
  • Develop content and/or design for the community events chalkboard.
  • Work with Incubator Manager to review member surveys for reputation management. Flag areas of customer dissatisfaction and areas of improvement to relay to the Incubator Manager and Communications team

Community Engagement

  • Attend networking events to recruit new members, event sponsors, and increase word-of-mouth communications about the Incubator.
  • Post Incubator events and opportunities in the Propeller Slack channel and relay any upcoming member opportunities to the Communications team.
  • Support the Incubator Manager in pursuing and receiving in-kind donations to elevate the Incubator space. Coordinates with the Development team on donor acknowledgment through the branding of new Incubator space additions.

Critical Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills. Able to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail.
  • Well-versed in the use of social media and digital advertising in professional environments. Experience with or knowledgeable about Facebook advertising, Google AdWords, and other digital marketing platforms preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to network and build relationships with potential partners and new members.
  • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
  • Emotional maturity.
  • Resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently.
  • (preferred) Licensed driver with a vehicle to assist with marketing material distribution.
  • (preferred) We strive to be highly effective in serving all aspects of the New Orleans community. To do so requires expertise and deep knowledge. Preference will be given to candidates with significant personal and/or professional experience working with low-income or underrepresented minority communities (African-American, Latino American, Native American or Vietnamese American).
