Major Responsibilities and Related Tasks:

  • Recruit Military Families to participate in Volunteer Leadership Training
  • Train Military Families as volunteer leaders throughout three cohorts
  • Design and develop volunteer projects with Military Families
  • Relationship Management and Community Outreach: Build strong relationships with military leadership, key organizations and community leaders. Cultivate relationships and partnerships with external constituents in the local community, including government organizations, corporate partners, civic organizations and other community charitable and non-profit agencies with the purpose of furthering the mission of the Red Cross. Outreach could include command meetings, education briefings, presentations and/or information sessions, and recruitment events. 2. Volunteer Management: Manage outreach program to enable delivery of SAF programs and services. Provide supervision of both paid and volunteer staff.
  • Service Delivery Management: Ensure the consistent delivery of the SAF core services to all clients within the region. Ensure community outreach, to include command meetings and education briefings, presentations, or workshops.
  • Ensure a strong military community outreach program and implementation of special events and projects in support of SAF initiatives.
  • Ensures military and veteran community is offered resiliency training. 6. Monitor and report on the outcomes and results of programs and services to ensure organizational accountability and make recommendations for continuous improvement to ensure metrics are consistently met.
  • Partner with the Regional Communication team to support strong visibility for SAF in the community.
  • Provide administrative support to local and regional staff and volunteers.
  • Perform general office administrative functions including: data entry, working with spreadsheets, drafting correspondence, filing, and mailing, making copies, and answering phones.
  • Participate in daily activities to include initial Red Cross orientation, line of service orientation, CPR/AED training, office procedures, Chapter/installation tour, on-the job training, professional development (as required), participate in weekly SAF team meetings as well as monthly regional meetings (in person or teleconference as scheduled) as well as bi-monthly individual meetings to assess program goals.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
  • Have a college degree or attended some college, have a high school diploma or GED
  • Have served no more than two terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program*
  • Agree to a criminal background check
  • Be able to participate in the Corps Training Institute in Atlanta GA October 2017
  • Be able to begin service on October 9, 2017
