Relay For Life is a signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. Composed of volunteers, the Event Leadership Team works on recruiting, event logistics and promoting fundraising for the fight against cancer. Training is both formal and informal, varying by position and experience of the volunteer. Time commitments vary by position. All Event Leadership Team members are expected to attend monthly Relay meetings. All Event Leadership Team members are expected to raise a minimum of $100 to qualify for the Hope Club.

The Activities Lead oversees all of the activities that take place during the Relay For Life event which may include choosing the type of activities and when they occur. Individuals in this role are creative, organized and know what it takes to have a good time. Additionally, individuals in this role are comfortable cultivating relationships with various and vast groups and organizations in the community that are willing to contribute to the implementation of creating a dynamic and exciting Relay For Life event.

Specific tasks include:

  • Plan and implement Relay For Life event activities
  • Collaborate with Ceremonies, Entertainment and Logistics Lead regarding schedule of events and logistical needs
  • Meet monthly with the Experience Lead to discus goals and progress.
