Disability Achievement Center is a non-residential resource center serving persons with disabilities regardless of age or disability in Pasco and Pinellas Counties. As a Center for Independent Living (CIL), our goal is to assist persons to gain or maintain independence at home, at work and in all aspects of community life.
The power of a CIL is generated from its structure - a 501(c)(3) agency directed by and operated by persons with disabilities. As a CIL, we are required by Federal law to maintain a 51% ratio of disabled to non-disabled members of our Board of Directors. Persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply!
Serving as a Board Member is among our organization's highest privileges! The key characteristics and responsibilities of a successful Board Member include, but are not limited to:
---a willingness to embrace and advance the mission of Disability Achievement Center;
---the ability to represent and understand all points of view;
---the capacity to set aside one's own personal agendas in order to meet the higher standard of serving the entire organization;
---the capacity to think strategically and globally;
---a desire to work as a team member;
---a willingness to volunteer a minimum of 4 hours per month to complete the work of the board.
