Description of the Position
The Grants & Fundraising Manager will work with senior AEN management and the in-country Ugandan finance team in order to apply for and attain funding from a range of sources. As an established international development startup, this position will allow you to bring your own focus and skill set to a role ripe for growth.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Applying for competitive grants
- Researching and implementing creative fundraising methods
- Growing the Grants & Fundraising team as appropriate
- Communicating with other AEN members on a weekly basis
- Setting realistic deadlines based on grant timelines and your availability
- Communicating timely with AEN’s other sections when needed
An availability of 7-20 hours per week is needed for this position. The minimum time commitment is 3 months.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals focusing on entrepreneurship, international development or nonprofit management. Undergraduate/graduate students and college graduates with demonstrated interests or work experience are encouraged to apply.
Alongside exposure to grant writing and fundraising - preferably with successful grant applications already completed - the ideal candidate will possess excellent research, creativity, writing and interpersonal skills, with strong commitment to AEN’s values and mission.
Code & Conditions
An offer of assignment and a copy of the Conditions of Service and Code of Conduct will be issued to the successful candidate. He or she will receive training before the work officially starts. Please note this position is unpaid, as AEN is a non-profit organization and cannot offer financial retribution at this stage. Most of the work will be done online through the AEN’s intranet, remote control system, and emails.
