Purpose: To engage existing donors, acquire new donors, and provide passive access for community members.

Description: Passion Impact (PI) is a startup nonprofit based in Portland, Oregon that empowers students chase their passions through community service. Our Donor Relations Intern (DRI) will be responsible for growing relationships with our existing donors and increasing our local donor base. The Donor Relations Intern (DRI) is responsible for communicating and maintaining positive relationships with PI supporters. The DRI is charged with developing consistent, positive communication with donors and keeping our supporters up-to-date within the community is essential for successfully raising support. In addition, interns will be responsible for reporting to the Executive Director and to the Development Committee. The organization is dependent on donations to continue serving students and our community, and these donations are dependent on positive relationships growing in quality and quantity. Our prime candidate will be extremely self-driven and invested in setting long term goals for PI as a whole. We work hard at PI and expect the same of you, but you also better be ready to have fun!

Required Education:

  • Recent graduate (within 1 year) or currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in nonprofit management/related field, business administration, hospitality, operations, social work, nonprofit management or related field of study preferred.
  • Current high school student or recent graduate interested in any of the above degrees or fields.

  • Professional, positive, effective, and human through all forms of communication.
  • Budgeting and planning.
  • Sales and/or customer service.
  • Team oriented.
  • Bilingual (Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese).
  • Ability to remain calm in a high stress environment.
  • Passionate about fundraising and furthering Passion Impact’s mission.
  • Technologically savvy and/or fast pace learner (Google Suit, MeisterTask, Canva, Slack).

Objectives: (All objectives will be approached as a team)

  1. Build a working donor incentivization program.
  2. Build a working monthly donor program with five more monthly donors.
  3. Hold two fundraising events.
  4. Write over 100 postcards to potential donors in Portland.
  5. Plan the PI Winter Support Campaign.
  6. Complete an Internship Portfolio that includes a personal reflection and a presentation.

Duties:

  • Work with the PR Interns to populate the monthly donor emails.
  • Communicate with all current donors in person, on the phone, through email, or via letters.
  • Follow standard operating procedures for donation tracking.
  • Maintain understanding of what is being accomplished in other areas of the organization by other interns and student groups.
  • Work with the Development Committee to assist in overlapping objectives.

Commitment:

  • June 19th, 2018 - August 16th, 2018 (possibility to extend based on performance and project availability)
  • Must attend the June 17th, 2018 Volunteer Event with Habitat for Humanity Restore.
  • Must attend training June 19, 20, 21, 2018.
  • Must attend weekly office meetings on Tuesday at 9 AM.
  • Must accumulate 150 hours.

Office Hours: - The office will be open the following days and times:

  • Monday: 12-6
  • Tuesday - Thursday: 8-5
  • Friday - Sunday: Closed

Compensation: As a small grassroots organization we do not currently have funding to compensate interns. If you are a student and qualify for work study at PCC, PSU, or UP, we will gladly work with your college or university to make sure that you receive compensation for your time devoted to Passion Impact. We are also happy to help you receive course credit!
