Capitol Land Trust hostS the Olympic Middle School 7th graders at our Bayshore Preserve to provide hands-on environmental education learning opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (FieldSTEM). We have developed a formal curriculum and provide a one-day training for our volunteers in September and February each year.
The next training will take place on on a weekday in mid February from 9 AM - 2 PM at our Bayshore Preserve (Directions emailed upon registration). Training will include a full run through of the planned activities.
If you attend the training we ask that you commit to lead or assist one of four activities on one (or more!) of the four days students will be at Bayshore. We can’t run this program without the help of volunteers like yourself!
The students visit Bayshore a total of four times:
Tuesday, October 3
Wednesday, October 4
Tuesday, March 27
Wednesday, March 28
In order to ensure that all students receive the same experience we are asking out volunteers to attend our volunteer training and then also sign up to assist or lead an activity for at least one of the October or March dates. This will ensure every student receives the same experience and opportunity to learn as part of our FieldSTEM program.
