ORGANIZATION: Running for a Better Oakland

Student Runners

Running for a Better Oakland is an organization that trains Oakland youth to run either a 5k or Half marathon. We have a Fall and Spring season and all training is done at Lake Merritt.

We are looking at expanding our reach to other Bay Area cities. We are needing a head volunteer that would like to start an RBO in their community using the blueprint that we have designed over the years. You would be a part of the RBO Family and we would assist with everything needed to support your charter.

Are you a runner? Love working with Kids? Have the ability to have practices on Saturday mornings for the Fall and Spring training sessions? Then we would love to talk with you!

Running for a Better Oakland (RBO) is a non-profit organization that encourages Kindergarten-12th grade Oakland students to develop healthy lifestyles through running. By providing training and encouragement, RBO helps students build confidence and set goals, giving them tools for achievement and hard work they can draw on in all areas of their lives.

Description

RBO strives to build a tolerant, healthy, and prosperous community. Through the discipline and rigor of a structured running program, RBO’s goal is to create new relationships, establish trust, build self-esteem, and empower students, parents, and volunteers.
