Burlington is a valued retail partner whose cashiers raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by asking customers if they would like to make a donation.
Volunteers are needed as:
- Ambassadors
- Secret Shoppers
Ambassadors
Ambassadors are needed to assist LLS staff in facilitating monthly meetings with Burlington cashiers. Volunteers will be reading off a script, which will motivate the cashiers to continue fundraising and to hit their goals.
Secret Shoppers
Secret shoppers are needed to conduct incognito visits in order to relay to LLS whether or not they were asked to make a donation. If the cashier indeed makes the ask, he/she will be rewarded with a provided gift card.
Purchases can be very minimal (ie: pack of gum, a drink, reusable bag). Only 3 total visits are necessary (1 in September, 1 in November, and 1 in early December).

Mission Statement
The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. We work tirelessly to find cures and ensure patients can access the lifesaving treatments they need. When someone experiences the fear and uncertainty of a blood cancer diagnosis, we provide hope, compassion, education and support. Our impact is felt beyond blood cancer. The breakthrough treatments we helped advance for blood cancers are now improving the lives of people affected by many types of cancer.
Description
Volunteers are our partners in the crusade to end cancer.
In 2017, LLS volunteers made a significant impact while selflessly dedicating their time and talent to achieve our mission. With countless ways to engage, from fundraising to providing patient support, our volunteers are changing the landscape of cancer.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Virginia Chapter serves residents in the Commonwealth who have been touched by one of the blood cancers: leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
