The Dillon Home is looking for volunteers passionate about history and historic homes to give tours of the house. We are open for tours 4 days a week. The tour lasts about an hour and goes over some of the family history as well as some of the antiques in the 2-story mansion. Full training will be given by the curator as well as a tour book to help you along the way. Retirees are encouraged to apply!! Must be 18, able to climb stairs and pass a background check. Mission Statement
The Dillon Home museum is run by the Sterling, Illinois Park District. Our goal is to preserve the history of the home and its occupants, The Dillon's of Northwestern Steel and Wire occupied the home from 1882 until 1980. The Home is on the national register of Historic Places under the name Col. Edward N. Kirk, who built the home. He passed from The Battle of Stone's River in Murphfreesboro, TN.
