We believe that play is a human right that all children deserve, regardless of housing status. Our trained and screened volunteers help care for children ages 0-10 in a playroom at our emergency shelter for families fleeing domestic violence.
You can make a difference in a child's life by helping to support a positive and nurturing environment in the playroom. The playroom also functions to allow parents to be able to attend case management meetings, support groups, therapist sessions, and other programming parents need but would otherwise not be able to attend without this support.
Optimally, we have 2-3 volunteers working with around 10-15 children from 0-10 years old. Volunteer support is primarily needed Monday - Thursday from 5:45-7:45 PM, and we are looking for individuals who can make an ongoing commitment for at least one night a week. There is also the opportunity to volunteer in our nursery for infants and toddlers on weekday mornings and early afternoons.
