Become a Planning Committee Member!

ACT-W conferences run on the energy of our volunteers who care about empowering women in technology. The ACT-W National Conference is our first National, action-packed event where talented people can build skills, grow their community, and accelerate their career path by connecting with companies that truly fit them best. The conference includes speaking sessions, hands-on workshops, one-on-one coaching sessions, and more.

As a committee member, you’ll be a vital part of the conference and help to create a welcoming and outstanding conference experience for about 2,500+ participants from across the country. The planning experience is a unique opportunity to participate in the conference activities. ACT-W National Event Planning Committee Members will be responsible for various conference duties such as sponsorship outreach, conference and speaker schedule development, event management, food and beverage planning, on-site logistics, and more.

What is expected of me?

As a Planning Committee Member, you’ll be expected to be available for the entire conference planning up until the conference on April 13th, 2018.

Open Planning Committee Positions

(Examples below, but please note that positions may fluctuate and/or overlap due to event needs)

Career Fair Station Manager

Station Managers will be selected to run the planning for one station in the Career Fair based on their interest and experience. Stations include Wellness, Career, Hackathons, Unconferences, and more!

  • Finds industry leaders in Tech-related workspace to volunteer time / expertise to teach during ACT-W Stations at the Career Fair

As a Station Leader you will:
  • Conduct sponsor outreach for financial and in-kind support

  • Ensure logistics are planned for the station, including signage, materials, food, and other swag
  • Clearly communicates goals and mission of ACT-W to volunteers and sponsors
  • Effectively track and communicate work with the Events Team
  • Plan the station schedule and facilitators to ensure a smooth flow of events at the station during the conference
  • Recruit session facilitators along with other Planning Committee members
  • Attend bi-monthly meetings with the Planning Commitee
  • Create and manage a budget for their station, to be approved by the Events and Career Fair Team
  • Workshop leaders must be approved by the Events and Career Fair Team

ChickTech is dedicated to retaining women and non-binary people in the technology workforce and increasing the number of people of marginalized genders pursuing technology-based careers.

Description

ChickTech is a multi-generational community helping each other become technology creators. We facilitate hands-on technology-centric events and mentorship to empower, support, and increase the confidence of girls, women, and non-binary folks. Through our programs, we build community, empower participants to see themselves as leaders, and provide networking and mentoring opportunities in the rapidly growing tech industry.

As a mostly volunteer-run non-profit, we are always searching for partners who would like to get involved through donations of expertise, volunteer time, in-kind, funding, or just by helping to get the word out.
