About AIDS Walk Detroit: In 1991 a group of local merchants and shop keepers in Royal Oak started AIDS Walk Detroit as a 'simple request’ to raise money for individuals reeling from the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Today AIDS Walk Detroit has evolved into the largest grassroots HIV/AIDS fundraiser in the state of Michigan. Over the past 26 years AIDS Walk Detroit has raised over $3.8 million to benefit HIV/AIDS services here in Michigan. AIDS Walk Detroit 2017 Presented by Delta Air Lines: This year, AIDS Walk Detroit's 5K walk will take place on Sunday, September 17th at the Royal Oak Farmers Market. We have ambitiously set a goal of raising $200,000 through this year’s event and mobilizing over 2,500 participants to participate. This year we are challenging each and every one of our supporters to make these goals a reality.
