We're passionate about helping youth with visual impairments get ready for college and we hope you are too! We are in need of an attorney to provide the occasional volunteer legal advice. Why? Those with disabilities attend college at the same rate as those without disabilities, but they don't graduate at the same rate. Our goal is to work toward eliminating that gap. Join us! We do this by hosting a residential summer camp where youth with visual impairments from all over the United States come to Raleigh, NC for a simulated college experience. We've never had any legal issues or litigation, but occasionally questions do arise that could best be reviewed and answered from a legal perspective. We're proactive and have high expectations for running a successful program. We hope you can support us in this regard.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide an opportunity for youth with visual impairments to experience a glimpse of post secondary outcomes (employment, college, etc) through development of mentoring relationships, real world applications, and identification of available resources.
Description
The EYE Retreat aims to squeeze five years of one's life into five days to prepare them for the rigor and expectations of college life. The EYE Retreat begins day one with the transition from senior year of high school to freshmen year of college with activities focused on getting to know your roommate and preparing for the first day of class. Days two, three, and four aim to include many of the activities one would experience during their freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior years of college. These may include transportation, communicating with faculty, money management, vocational rehabilitation, disability services, and assistive technology. A mock class is also included during this time that will serve as the foundation for the coursework. Finally, the fifth day is dedicated to activities to transition from college life to community living. In particular, accessible sports, cooking, and career exploration are noteworthy activities.
