Currently, Glenview is in need of tutors for our AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) programs. AVID is an amazing, national program designed to support the life dreams of students who have college aspirations but need support developing the academic strategies and skills to be prepared to pursue their aspirations. Most of these students will be the first in their families to go to college.
We are looking for volunteers who would be comfortable leading tutorials for students in small groups of 4-6. Typically, the students need help completing assignments in their math and English classes, and the tutors provide the space and support they need through their AVIDelective. In a perfect situation, volunteers would participate for a complete school year...and it would be great if they love it and remain in subsequent years!
Candidates should have attended college, and a degree is a plus. Volunteers will receive 16 hours of free AVID training through our schools each year. They will also be invited to attend our whole-system professional development events free of charge.
