With a friendly visit, seniors enjoy a few hours of company each month, offering both the senior and volunteer an opportunity to learn from one another. Seniors and volunteers share stories and memories; they may listen to music together, watch a favorite movie or enjoy a hobby or a game of cards. Volunteers benefit from learning about an older person's life experiences, and seniors enjoy an opportunity to share their views with younger generations and stay connected with the outside world.
Friendly Visitors also serve as a vital link with our clients. If they notice a change in their senior's behavior, surroundings, or routine they can contact the office and discuss the issue with our Case Managers.
In addition to our friendly visitor program, EMMCA offers a Home Chore Program. This program adds helpful indoor/outdoor tasks to the base of a friendly visit. So in addition to chatting about your day, you may vacuum or dust and help the senior with things that have become increasingly difficult as they've aged.
