Event Description:
Join staff in removing invasive non-native plant species from Dorothea Dix Park. Invasive species out-compete the native plants that our animals rely on for food. By removing these problem plants we are giving our native species a chance to grow.
Pre-registration is required. You may register for one or multiple days. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old to volunteer. Adults must register and accompany children under the age of 16. Everyone who volunteers must sign a release form. If anyone is under the age of 18, then a parent or guardian must sign their form as well.
Volunteers may register for the following dates and time:
- 9/9/2017 from 9:00 am - 12:00pm
- 9/30/2017 from 9:00 am - 12:00pm
- 10/14/2017 from 9:00 am - 12:00pm
- 11/4/2017 from 9:00 am - 12:00pm
- 11/18/2017 from 9:00 am - 12:00pm
Please bring a water bottle, wear sturdy close-toed shoes and clothing you can get dirty. We will supply the tools and work-gloves.
*Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity cannot count towards court-appointed or suggested community service hours.*
