PetsEmpower believes in keeping pets and people together escaping domestic violence
PetsEmpower is the national movement keeping pets and people together escaping domestic violence. We provide advocacy, inspire community action, and develop innovative educational programs. We help domestic violence survivors transition from abuse to healing. You love animals and so do we. Let's help survivors take care of their pets, benefit from time and space to heal, reunite, and thrive!
Millions of pet parents annually in the US looking to escape domestic violence are stuck in cycles of abuse. Although they want to keep their loving pet, they can't afford pet boarding and almost all human shelters prohibit pets.

We are looking for 5-10 content writers to update our blog on a weekly basis with relevant, timely material. Content can be provided if requested based on current events. We hope to have several volunteers working to submit one blog post a week which we can then stagger out to our online blog at PetsEmpower.org and our social media channels. If you have a passion for the mission, would like to gain volunteer experience with a remote position, and be part of a startup nonprofit with a S.M.A.R.T. growth plan, this is the position for you.
You will be reporting to Jordan Ross, Founder and CEO, and can make the position as challenging or simple as you would like. We ask for only one hour of your week to write drafts and proofread your work, and if you have experience with WordPress, posting the content as well. You will NOT be responsible for social media posting, website edits, or other marketing positions. Please view our current blog for reference and be self-directed and motivated. Personal experiences relating to pets and domestic violence and/or the intersection are welcome. Your voice matters and is valued here.

Description
PetsEmpower.org is a nonprofit umbrella organization increasing access to short-term fostering for domestic violence survivors in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. We give courageous domestic violence survivors a positive alternative to pet relinquishment or remaining in abusive situations with their pet due to a lack of options to place their pet. We allow owners to find safety for themselves and their pets through short-term pet fostering and and later reunite, generating positive health outcomes.
