Mission Statement
To help protect the community by providing a temporary, physically restrictive environment for alleged and adjudicated juvenile offenders awaiting court disposition as ordered by the court, directed by the Hennepin County Department of Community Corrections, ruled by the Minnesota Department of Corrections, and provided for by the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners. Specifically the facility shall:
- Provide general administrative services which will enable the units' programs to achieve their goals and objectives, and to hold programs accountable for achieving objectives within budget constraints.
- Provide secure detention for juveniles during investigation of offense and awaiting court disposition and placement.
- Provide nutritious, well-balanced meals three times a day to all residents.
- Provide 24 hour routine medical health screening on all admits and provide emergency and continuing medical treatment as required for all residents.
- Provide a minimum of two hours of education daily to all eligible residents by and through the school district of Minneapolis.
- Provide a well-balanced, age-appropriate recreational program on a group and individual basis to all residents.
- Operate, maintain, repair, and secure the physical plant so that a safe, healthy, and functional environment is realized for residents, staff, program activities and the public.
- Provide and maintain 24 hour security and safety for the residents, staff and the physical plant.
- Provide and administer reporting, statistical and research services.
- Provide non-sectarian worship and religious services.
- Ensure the constitutional legal rights of all detained juveniles.
