The Senior Content Editor plays a primary role in overseeing the development of engaging relevant content for JerseySTEM in both written and visual form. It is his/her responsibility to oversee a junior team of writers brainstorming content creation material and strategies as well as acting in a mentoring capacity ensuring junior writer's clarity and consistency across the board.

The Senior Content Editor will co-ordinate writers being present either physically or virtually at JerseySTEM programs and events for live coverage recap pieces.

They are also responsible for the development of strategies with the Communications and PR Managers, managing/developing timelines, projects, collaborating with marketing, PR along with Project Account Managers, and own the essence of the JerseySTEM brand to ensure the cohesiveness across all departments and channels.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES Required:

- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or a related field
- 5 years working experience in a Content Editing Position
- Ability to manage a team
- Have a take charge attitude
- Proven ability to dedicate the time to building a team from ground up

KEY PROJECTS:

- Recruit and manage a team of writers covering JerseySTEM programs/events
- Collaborate with Account Managers on projects requiring copy for other departments
- Oversee content written for emails, newsletters, social media, marketing materials, internal/external communications, etc.

Mission Statement

JerseySTEM is a grassroots 501(c) nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math ("STEM") education to girls grade 5-8 from underserved communities in New Jersey. We partner with socially responsible companies and their employees, youth organizations in underserved communities, and civic-minded college students and universities. Together we develop and deliver innovative, hands-on, and online afterschool projects and inquiry-based learning opportunities that develop teamwork, 21st-century problem-solving skills, and self-esteem.

Description

Incorporated in 2013, JerseySTEM started bringing afterschool enrichment programs to middle school girls in 2015.
We have since provided 1,000 students with exposure to afterschool enrichment programs delivering more than 20,000 hours of instruction. Students learn to code, build robots, solve problems and through that process gain self-esteem and confidence that they can be the leaders of tomorrow.
