Scarecrow Row
Scarecrow Row at Troy Historic Village

Are you creative, with an eye for design? Handy with needle and thread, or hardware and tools? Can you pick things up and put them down? We need you! Troy Historical Society is looking for volunteer help during the month of September as we prepare for our fourth annual Scarecrow Row! Ways to help:

  • Field Office: Work offsite (but still in Troy, MI!) with our talented scarecrow builders to design and create scarecrows to represent local business sponsors.
  • Scarecrow Workshop: Volunteer at Troy Historic Village on Saturday September 9, 9:30am - 1:30pm, to help families and individuals build scarecrows.
  • Install scarecrows: Lift and carry completed scarecrows; attach to fence with zip-ties. Workday TBD, will take place during the week of Sept. 25.
Scarecrow Row is a really fun way to get involved in your community! The 'crows you help create/install will be on display at the Village for the month of October and shared on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/TroyHistVillage.

Mission Statement

We learn from the past to understand the present and build a better future.

Description

The Troy Historical Society is a nonprofit organization with more than 40 years of success in preserving and presenting the history of our region. On July 1, 2011 the Troy Historical Society assumed responsibility for operation of the Troy Historic Village, where history lives. The Troy Historic Village includes ten historic buildings, surrounding a village green that is enhanced by gardens and mature trees. A tent and gazebo on the green provide areas for outdoor concerts, storytelling and reading aloud. There is ample space for picnics and traditional activities and games. Our historic buildings host concerts, lectures, discussions and meetings, as well as exhibits of arts and artifacts.

The Troy Historic Village is a destination for students, children, families and adults who live in or visit southeast Michigan.
