Established in 2011, Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley is a non-profit organization that impacts lives by addressing family homelessness in the local community. We collaborate with faith congregations, civic organizations, and individuals to offer homeless children and their families, temporary housing, and coordinated services via case management, enabling them to get back on their feet.
Internship Description/Purpose: This opportunity is ideal for students interested in PR, marketing and communications, in a non-profit sector.
The Social Media and Data Intern will provide support to the Family Promise Team in carrying out the overall marketing strategy in order to increase exposure. Marketing and data management efforts lead to an increase in agency partnerships, event attendance, and clients receiving services.
- Implement digital engagement strategies across multiple platforms, including email, texts, Facebook, other social media, and websites, to increase traffic & engagement
- Weekly updates and maintenance of the website
- Develop content for targeted segments of the database relevant to specific campaigns
- Enhance current content and develop a tool to track digital engagement campaign success
- Work closely with Community Relations Committee and Executive Director
- Review analytics regularly from all digital organizing campaigns to assess effectiveness and make changes as needed
- Monitor and engage audiences on social media accounts

Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley exists to help families experiencing or at risk of homelessness achieve sustainable independence through a community-based approach.
Description
Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley relies almost solely on volunteer support and provides shelter and meals for homeless children and their families. The families stay one week at a time in different congregations in the San Gabriel Valley area. Volunteers provide nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinners for the family, as well as fun activities to do while the families are staying in the program. Volunteers also spend the night in the congregations with the families and donate goods and professional services that enable to families to prosper both in the program and upon graduation. In addition, there are volunteer opportunities to serve as a tutor, workshop facilitator, support the administrative functions of the office, social media manager, event planning, or use your professional skills in HR, finance, communications, fund development and other non-profit functions on a committee.
