Imagine if you could not read to your child, fill out a job application, or write an email? An estimated 440,000 adults in San Diego County struggle with these skills. The Carlsbad City Library Learning Center works with English-speaking adults who wish to improve their reading, writing, and computer skills to meet their life goals. We provide all of the tools for you to be successful as a tutor including extensive training, free books and materials. If you are patient, caring and wish to make a difference in an adult’s life, please sign up to volunteer.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 21 years old
  • Comfortable with reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Able to meet twice per week for 1 ½-hour each session
  • Minimum 6-month commitment

We will work with your schedule during library open hours, Monday -Thursday, 9 a.m.- 8 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
