Opera Company in the Chain Bridge area of North Arlington needs a Finance Volunteer. We are looking for individuals who are college or graduate students majoring in Accounting, Finance, or related fields as well as retired or semi-retired financial professionals. Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: managing and reconciling donations and ticket income from public events into a neatly organized ledger, reconciling yearly expenses, managing embassy and mailing database, and help in setting up performance events. The volunteer would carry out tasks under the supervision of CPA professional. Familiarity with MS Excel a strong plus, knowledge of MS Access and financial software applications is good as well. Commitment of 2+ hours per week and will train for the position.

The individual currently in this position will return to college in Pennsylvania shortly and has this to say regarding the position: Starting in late June at Opera NOVA, I have learned a great deal of things. Through the support and excellent supervision of members of this opera company, I have learned various new MS Excel Skills, and learned how to manage the financials of an organization. I have also learned various new ways to reach out to people, and advertise for performances. As the summer went on, I have learned to really enjoy helping out the cause of this opera company, and would highly recommend anyone with free time to join and help out this great organization.
