Opera Company in the Chain Bridge area of North-most Arlington needs Finance Volunteers. We are looking for individuals who are college or graduate students majoring in Accounting, Finance, or related fields as well as retired or semi-retired financial professionals. Mothers and housewives that have knowledge managing finances are also welcome. Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: managing and reconciling donations and ticket income from public events into a neatly organized ledger, reconciling yearly expenses, and acknowledging recent contributions and grants. The volunteer would carry out these tasks under the supervision of CPA professional. Familiarity with MS Excel a strong plus, knowledge of MS Access and financial software applications not necessary but welcome. Commitment of 2+ hours per week; training for the position is available.

An individual formerly in this position had this to say regarding his position: Starting in late June at Opera NOVA, I have learned a great deal of things. Through the support and excellent supervision of members of this opera company, I have learned various new MS Excel Skills, and learned how to manage the financials of an organization. I have also learned various new ways to reach out to people, and advertise for performances.
