The Native Plant Garden Intern will work under the direction of the Garden Manager to learn about native plant gardening practices to enhance the visual aesthetic of the White Point Native Plant Garden. Tasks will include weeding, pruning, mulching, trail repairs, and planting shrubs. All skills will be taught by the Garden Manager and tools and gloves will be provided.

REQUIREMENTS
-Currently 18 years or older
-Interest in horticulture, native plant gardening, or restoration ecology
-Ability to work outdoors all day, lift 40 pounds, and use hand tools
-Willing to work in a team and individually

This is an unpaid position that meets every Saturday. We require a minimum of 3 hours per week in the garden for at least 3-months. Start time and duration of this position are flexible.

Description

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy (PVPLC) manages over 1600 acres of open space on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and two nature centers with native plant demonstration gardens. The PVPLC engages volunteers in the development and maintenance of native plant gardens in order to demonstrate how gardening with native plants is beneficial for the environment.
