Tech Tutor

Be an Ambassador for 3D Printer Technology!

The Main Library in Oakland (125 14 th Street) seeks a regular volunteer to demonstrate MakerBot Replicator 3D printers as an ambassador to the public. If you are familiar with using and troubleshooting 3D printers and you’d like to make this technology more accessible to our community, this could be the perfect volunteer position for you!

The 3D Printer Ambassador will: set up the printers, demonstrate printing to an audience of patrons, troubleshoot as needed, and pass along feedback to library staff.

Demonstrations will be scheduled during regular 2-hour shifts, when the library is open and busy with patrons. A 3-month commitment is required, and volunteers must by 18 years or older.

To apply, please click "I want to help!" above and complete the volunteer application form.

Mission Statement

Your Oakland Public Library empowers all people to explore, connect, and grow.

Description

The Oakland Public Library is a part of the City of Oakland and has been in existence since 1878. Our locations currently include 16 branches, a Main Library, 6 Teen Zones, the Second Start Adult Literacy Program, a Tool Lending Library and the African American Museum and Library. We also operate the Books for Wider Horizons program that recruits, trains, and places volunteer story readers in preschool or childcare centers throughout the City of Oakland and offer many other special services for residents of Oakland and California.

We are supported by a lively Friends of the Library group and by the Library Advisory Commission, as well as by local Friends' groups around the city.
